Scented candles by season: how to choose the right fragrance for each season

The scent of a scented candle should follow the season. Spring and summer call for the freshness of flowers and berries. Autumn and winter call for the warmth of forest, vanilla, and earth. Changing your scent with the seasons is one of the simplest ways to follow nature’s rhythm from inside your home.

It is no coincidence that we are drawn to different scents depending on the season. The connection between our sense of smell, memory, and emotion is well documented. A fresh summer scent in January creates dissonance. A warm forest scent on a late August evening, on the other hand, feels like a natural extension of the seasonal shift outdoors. Spring: freshness awakens

Spring is about renewal. Light, floral, and fresh scents that open up the home after winter are perfect for this season. Flowery Meadow, with its soft floral meadow scent, is the quintessential spring fragrance. Citrus Sorbet is perfect for bright spring mornings when you want energy and freshness in your home.

Summer: vibrancy and sunshine

Summer scented candles can be vibrant and fruity. Summer Berries, with its crisp scent of sun-ripened berries, was created for late summer evenings. Flowery Meadow works just as well during summer for a lush, floral feeling indoors.

Autumn: earthy and warm

As the light changes and the leaves take on new colors, we want scents that reflect the seasonal shift. Deep Forest, with its deep Nordic coniferous forest character, is perfect for autumn’s dark evenings. Amber Rain creates a warm, grounding spa feeling that is perfect as the temperatures drop.

Winter and Christmas: warmth and coziness

Winter and Christmas are peak season for scented candles. This is when warmth and sweetness come into their own. French Vanilla, with its creamy, embracing vanilla scent, is the Christmas candle of the year. Deep Forest evokes a walk through a winter forest and a classic Scandinavian Christmas feeling.

The Editor's Note: Changing your scented candle with the seasons does not have to be complicated. Choose a candle with floral or fresh notes for spring and summer, and one with warm, grounding notes for autumn and winter. It is a small gesture that makes a big difference to the feeling of your home.

Vanliga frågor

What is a botanical scented candle? +
A botanical scented candle is made with a natural wax base of coconut oil and rapeseed oil and is scented exclusively with essential oils from plants. It contains no synthetic fragrances, paraffin, or petrochemical additives. The result is a candle that burns more cleanly and fills the room with a genuine, natural fragrance.
How long does a botanical scented candle burn? +
FOAM’s botanical scented candles burn for approximately 25 hours. The natural coconut wax and rapeseed wax burn more slowly and evenly than paraffin, providing a longer burn time per gram of wax.
How do you use a scented candle properly so that it burns for a long time? +
Let the wax melt all the way to the edge during the first burn. If you extinguish the candle before the wax reaches the edge, a memory forms in the wax and the candle will never burn fully again. Always trim the wick to approximately 5 mm before each use for a steady, soot-free flame.
