Hair type is determined by the shape of the hair shaft in cross-section. Straight hair has a perfectly round cross-section, with the cuticle layer lying flat and the sebaceous glands able to easily lubricate the entire shaft. Wavy and curly hair have an oval or flattened cross-section, which means sebum does not reach the ends as easily and the cuticle layer is more prone to opening. That is why different hair types need different levels of cleansing and moisture. A shampoo bar for curly hair used on straight hair can cause heaviness and oiliness. A shampoo bar for straight hair used on curly hair can cause frizz and dryness.

How do I know what hair type I have? +
Look at the hair after it has dried naturally without products. Straight hair falls straight down. Wavy hair forms soft S-shapes. Curly hair forms defined spirals or ringlets. Fine hair feels light and thin between the fingers regardless of its curl pattern.

The shampoo bar is concentrated and water-free, making it more sustainable and environmentally friendly. It contains no preservatives needed to stabilize water, and one bar is equivalent to approximately 2–3 bottles of liquid shampoo.
